A Lucan man with a long list of convictions for similar crimes is facing a felony charge for writing a bad check at the Hilltop HyVEE in the purchase of almost $270 in groceries and health care items back in April.
Mankato Police say 25-year-old Christopher Maeyaert’s account had been closed and had a nearly $1,500 negative balance when he shut down the account in March.
A HyVee employee identified Maeyaert and the criminal complaint shows there are also surveillance photos that show the transaction.
Investigators say Maeyaert is also accused of writing four bad checks between March and April, two
in Olivia, one in Fairfax, and one check in Franklin. The value of those checks and the one at the Mankato store totals more than $500.00.
Court records show that Maeyaert has 36 prior convictions for similar crimes.
