The Mankato Department of Public Safety said a 12-year-old is facing assault charges after an incident that took place Sunday evening just after 7:30.
Commander Dan Schisel said they were contacted after a couple of kids in the 1,300 block of Pohl Road received minor injuries after, “They were struck by something and they believed there was another juvenile in the area that was holding what appeared to be a weapon. It ended up being a BB gun.”
The underage suspect was found nearby and Schisel said, “We were able to talk to a 12-year-old male that was the suspect in this situation and he is being charged with 5th-degree assault. It appears that he did fire a BB gun at a couple of different juveniles.
Schisel said the injuries didn’t require medical treatment but a BB, “Did pierce the skin on one of the juveniles.” He was hit in the hand.
Because of his age, the suspect’s name has not been released.
