A Mankato East High School student has been charged with a felony, after school officials say he brought knives to school in January.
Another student reported that 16-year-old Nathan Schiffman of Madison Lake was showing knives to a student, and the criminal complaint shows the assistant principal found two switchblades in his pockets.
Schiffman reportedly told the assistant principal that he brought the knives, “Because I don’t trust anyone here and if anyone wants to start something I will fillet them.” He’s also accused of saying he would scalp or skin people.
However, investigators say he gave the school resource officer a different story, saying he brought the knives to school accidentally and didn’t realize he had them until one fell out of his pocket.
Schiffman is charged in juvenile court with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
