A 21-year-old man ended up in jail after fixing himself a plate of chicken nuggets at about 2:30 in the morning on Saturday.

Mankato Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel said dispatch received a call from a woman who lives in a home on Johnson Street, who said, “There was someone inside her residence and the male was not known to them. It appears that somehow he entered through the garage and the garage door was not locked between the garage and the house.”

Schisel said Dylan Madden of Mankato may not have been sober when he entered the home and, “It did appear that maybe he was under the influence of something.”

Madden hasn’t yet explained why he went into a stranger’s kitchen to prepare a snack, but he did cooperate when police got to the home. “When officers arrived they were basically met right at the front doo area,” Schisel explained, “And he was arrested without incident.”

Madden is charged with first-degree burglary, a felony that can mean up to 20 years in prison if he’s convicted.
