The Mankato Department of Public Safety is looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her home two weeks ago.

Dispatch received a 911 call about a disturbance at an apartment in the city, and said screaming could be heard in the background.

When investigators arrived, the victim told them that her friend of nine years came to her apartment at 5:00 a.m., and appeared to be high. While they were watching television, the woman says she fell asleep and woke when 26-year-old Mowlid Ahmed of Mankato began raping her.

The victim told officers that Ahmed refused to let her go, but she managed to break free and run to her bedroom. He followed, and the criminal complaint shows he chased her around the apartment – trying to get the phone away from the woman as she made the call to police. Ahmed stated to the woman that he had just been released from jail and was not going back.

A warrant for Ahmed’s arrest has been issued on preliminary charges of criminal sexual conduct with force and interrupting an emergency call.
