A Mankato man accused of trying to solicit a child for sex after an undercover investigation that began in May is now also charged with possession of child pornography.

An agent with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension created an online post that claimed to be that of a 14-year old girl, and soon after says 31-year-old David Braga responded and asked to arrange a meeting. The criminal complaint shows that Braga asked for sex and also sent photos of his genitals. He was arrested when he showed up at a prearranged meeting place.

After the arrest, agents say a search of his cell phone uncovered pornographic pictures and videos of children, including one that involved an infant. Emails of a sexual nature exchanged with a 17-year-old girl were also found.

The amended charges now include one count of soliciting a child on the internet, two counts of using the internet to discuss sexual matters with a child, and seven counts of pornography possession.

Court records show that Braga is a registered sex offender in the State of Ohio and his criminal history includes felony convictions for sending harmful materials to juveniles and trying to get an underage person to engage in sexual activity.
