A Mankato man was arrested on Saturday evening after Police responded to a report of a domestic assault.

According to the report, 37-year old Joshua Raymond Armendariz was not making sense when he arrived home and started talking to a sibling. Without warning, the female victim says Armendariz hit the woman in the back with a socket wrench and then threw it at her head.

While in route to the incident, Mankato Police say Armendariz fled the scene on foot. He was later located and taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities say while being booked into the Blue Earth County Jail, Armendariz allegedly exhibited signs of being under the influence of methamphetamine.

Police say the victim was bleeding from the head and could not get up.

He has been charged with five Domestic Assault charges, four of the five counts are Felony level offenses.

Armendariz has two prior domestic violence related convictions in Blue Earth County in the last eight years.
