The Minnesota State Patrol reports snow and ice played a role in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 169 in Le Sueur County on Tuesday morning.

According to the report, 34-year old Ahmed Shiiraar of Mankato was driving a Toyota northbound when he lost control and entered the path of a semi. The semi, driven by 46-year old Steve Rodewald of New Ulm struck the car on the passenger side. Troopers say the Toyota came to rest in the ditch with heavy damage.

Shiiraar suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato.

Rodewald was reportedly un-injured in the incident that occurred around 8 a.m.
