The Mankato-North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area continues lead the state in job growth in 2018.

Greater Mankato Growth crunched the latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development for the month of May, which saw the area gain 1-thousand 286 jobs or 2.2-percent year-over-year. That number led all metros in the state and it’s the fifth straight month the Mankato-North Mankato Metro has led the state in job growth.

The manufacturing sector had the highest rate of growth at 3.5-percent, or 353 jobs in May. Goods Producing occupations have the highest level of employment, 10-thousand 581 jobs, since November of 2008.

Employment in the Public Sector dropped by 33 jobs, while the Private Service Sector added 966 jobs.
