A Mankato motorcyclist was seriously injured over the weekend in a crash near Rochester.
Minnesota State Patrol says 47-year-old Michael Hoffman and two other riders were injured when they laid their bikes down in an effort to avoid a head-on crash with a pickup driven by a 64-year-old Pine Island man troopers say crossed the center line and into their lane on Highway 247.
Hoffman was taken to the Mayo Clinic’s Rochester campus and was last listed in critical condition. A passenger on his bike, 35-year-old Kessa Wallace-Barnett of Mankato, was not hurt.
The rider of another bike involved, 42-year-old Regina Ortega of Dodge Center, was also hospitalized but is expected to recover. The third rider from Dodge Center, 58-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, wasn’t hurt.
