Greater Mankato Growth, Visit Mankato, City Center Partnership and GreenSeam have announced their 2017 Volunteer of the Year award recipients. Officials say John Hemstock, Maureen Waltman, Randy Zellmer and Jodie Hermer have made outstanding contributions to the organizations by demonstrating leadership through service and volunteerism.

Hemstock is GMG’s Volunteer of the Year and the organization says he has been an integral part of the community talent initiative. They add that his leadership was key in organizing two Talent Summits.

Visit Mankato’s Volunteer of the Year, Maureen Waltman was one of the first volunteers for the inaugural Mankato Marathon weekend in 2010, and every year since, she has remained an incredible contributor to the event.


City Center Partnership’s Volunteer of the Year, Randy Zellmer, chaired the Belgrade Avenue Master Planning committee in 2016 and 2017, and was also active in the formation of the Old Town Collaborative Association

GreenSeam’s Volunteer of the Year, Jodie Hermer serves on the Steering Committee, the Promotions Action Team and was recently selected to the 2018 GreenSeam Board of Directors.


Award recipients will be honored at the Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. Annual Meeting on March 8 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, at the Centennial Student Union Ballroom at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
