Two 17-year old juvenile males from Mankato were taken into custody on Sunday after an alert citizen reported the suspects were waving a gun in the air at 3:55 a.m.

Authorities were dispatched to investigate the incident at the Kwik Trip store at 1701 Premier Drive, according to Mankato Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel. 

“The caller reporting that there were a couple of males and a female in a vehicle. One of the males in the back seat was waiving what appeared a black handgun around in the vehicle. It was unknown what they were doing with it. Officers arrived, they did a Felony stop on the vehicle, identified the three individuals in the vehicle. It was later determined that we located a black .38 caliber handgun underneath the seat of this vehicle.”

The two 17-year old males were arrested and transported to the Carver County Juvenile Detention Center. It was later determined that the gun was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Bunker Court in Mankato.

“They’re looking at a variety of charges. Possession of Stolen Property and in Possession of the firearm and there’s some other charges as well.”

The female in the vehicle was not taken into custody.
