Mankato Police were busy over the weekend, with a significant number of car crashes brought on by the mid-April blizzard.
D.P.S. Commander Dan Schisel said, “Starting Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. through about 6:00 a.m. this morning we responded to about 75 disabled or motor vehicle accidents.”
Schisel said most were spinouts or slide offs.
“Sixty-one of those were disabled vehicles, or vehicles that were off the roadway and into the ditch and 14 or 15 were vehicle accidents that were reported to us,” he explained.
Schisel added that there were no significant injuries in any of the wrecks.
Minnesota State Patrol handled nearly 560 crashes as of Sunday night, 64 of them involved injuries, two of them serious. There were two fatal wrecks statewide.
