Mankato Police are no longer looking for a green-haired mystery driver who was reported to have hit a pedestrian in an alley between Broad and 4th Streets on Friday afternoon.
Commander Dan Schisel said, “It was confirmed that this accident never happened.”
That conclusion was reached after Schisel said the supposed victim’s story didn’t hold up. “In conversation the next day through the investigation there was some inconsistency in the story,” he explained.
One of the steps Schisel said investigators took was to determine if there was video surveillance in the alley between Broad and 4th Streets, where the hit-and-run was supposed to have taken place, “And we were actually able to determine that this never happened.”
The man was taken to the hospital to be treated. His name has not yet been released. He’s expected to be charged with filing a false police report.
