A Mankato teen is charged with car theft, two drunk driving counts, and driving without a license after Minnesota State Patrol says Sumeiya Ismail was pulled over for driving without headlights just after 2:00 a.m. on Warren Street in Mankato.

Trooper Joe Dellwo tried to stop Ismail, with both lights and sirens, but she continued driving for several blocks before pulling over.

The criminal complaint states that Ismail failed field sobriety tests and was taken to jail, where she blew a point-1-9 on a breath test.

Dellwo also reported that Ismail does not have a Minnesota driver’s license and the car had been reported stolen.

The woman who owns the car told investigators that Ismail came to her apartment with her roommate and was drunk and fell asleep on the couch. A short time later she heard the car start, noticed her keys were missing, and Ismail and her vehicle were both gone.
