Mankato Police say a 25-year-old woman from Lake Crystal is accused of stealing nearly $5,000 from her former employer.

The criminal complaint shows that Britny Hodroff quit her human resources job at a store in the River Hills Mall in February but didn’t turn in her keys. A few weeks later a bank deposit bag that contained $4,116 in cash and $831 in checks was stolen from the store.

Investigators say they discovered that Holdroff’s code hadn’t been removed from the alarm system and that number was punched in on the night of the theft.

Hodroff admitted to police that she went into the store after it closed on March 4th so she could get personal belongings left behind when she quit but denied stealing the cash and checks.

She is facing felony burglary and theft charges.
