The City of Mankato’s National Drug Drop effort was a success.

Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel said, “We were able to gather 135 pounds of items that were dropped off for that drug drop.”

Last year’s drug drop day collected about 100 pounds of unwanted medications, most expired prescription or over the counter meds.

During the 2017 calendar year the department collected more than 1,500 pounds of drugs through the collection box that’s available 24 hours a day in the lobby of the public safety center.
