A Mapleton man is facing one felony and two misdemeanor domestic assault charges and one count of stalking after police say he beat up his pregnant girlfriend on Sunday.

Blue Earth County Sheriff’s deputies say neighbors called police after the victim came to their house crying, carrying a toddler, and told dispatchers that she looked terrified.

The woman told investigators that she was seven months pregnant and was concerned that her unborn baby had been injured when 21-year-old Michael Hence wrapped his hands around her throat and slammed her into a wall – while she was holding her two-year-old son.

The criminal complaint shows the fight started over a message she received on social media.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Hence was arrested soon after when police saw him slowly drive by the home.
