The Mapleton Park Board has announced the coming construction of a splash pad in Heritage Park.

Officials say the water feature as well as new bathrooms and shelter will be purchased using money from the city’s Municipal Liquor store.

However, the park board would like to upgrade some features of the plan as well as increase the size of the splash pad, at an additional $35,000 cost, and they are hoping community donations will help them do that.

The city opened an online fundraiser, and as of Thursday morning it had taken in $600 of the $25,000 goal.
