Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is speaking out against the death of a black man at the hands of Minneapolis police Monday.
“All I keep coming back to is this: this man should not have died. What we saw is horrible. Completely and utterly messed up.”
The incident, captured on video, shows the man pinned face down by police and he can be heard saying “please, I can’t breathe.” Frey says what’s on the video is “wrong on every level.” During the encounter, police noticed the man was in medical distress. They called an ambulance and the man was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later. The FBI and BCA are investigating.
