Earlier this week the Walz administration announced more than 35,000 Minnesotans aged 65-plus would have access to COVID vaccines.   State epidemiologist Kris Ehresmann says while that’s a step in the right direction…

“That’s only about 4% of that population, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t get a vaccine appointment yet, or are not in one of the groups currently eligible to get the vaccine. There will be opportunities for everyone who wants to get vaccinated to get it but it will take time.”

Ehresmann says the state is still awaiting more vaccines from the federal government, but in the meantime, she says officials are doing the best they can to get Minnesotans quickly and safely vaccinated with what’s available.
