Beginning today the Minnesota Department of Health is going to include the number of “probable” COVID-19 related deaths in their daily reports. Health Department Director Kris Ehresman says until now they only listed laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 related deaths.

“There have been some instances where a death certificate lists COVID-19 as the cause of death, but we do not have a positive lab test to confirm this. Those deaths are now being counted as probable COVID 19 death and those numbers will be listed separately on the website.”

Ehresman also announced they would begin compiling and releasing a comprehensive weekly COVID-19 report. The first such report is scheduled to be released tomorrow (Thursday).
