American Red Cross volunteers from Minnesota are in the Carolinas to help residents there as Hurricane Florence approaches.

ABC News says Hurricane Florence could have “devastating impacts” when it makes landfall along the East Coast.

“Already we have 22 volunteers, plus one of our four emergency response vehicles, this one from Duluth, that are deployed to help those in need and we’ll be sending more in the days and weeks to come,” explained Red Cross spokeswoman Carrie Carlson-Guest.

She said people here at home can assist in a couple different ways, “One, make a donation at to help support those efforts; also all of the blood drives in those areas have been canceled and we need people to donate blood.”

Carlson-Guest said more volunteers will be deployed to the area as needed in the days and weeks to come.
