Doctors at all HealthPartners and Park Nicollet clinics are writing “prescriptions” for fruits and veggies for kids this summer.

“Really it’s to encourage families, get kids actively involved in eating and choosing and selecting nutritious foods and open their palate to a variety of new things.”

Dr. Jim MapelLentz says when a child comes in for a wellness or preventative care visit at one of the clinics, doctors will provide a $10 “prescription” to purchase fruits and veggies at Cub Foods stores. The program has been in place for more than five years and the goal this year is to reach at least 20,000 families.
