Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders meet this afternoon (3pm), as stalemate persists over COVID bonuses for front-line workers,  and replenishing the state’s Unemployment Insurance Fund to avoid business tax increases.  Senate Democratic Minority Leader Melisa Lopez Franzen says front-line workers need bonuses:

“I want to say to people like Courtney, William, Cole, Tyler, Maria and Ignacia that we’ll be thinking about you when we come to these negotiations.”

The Senate agreed to 250 million dollars last year, and Majority Leader Jeremy Miller says Republicans last week offered…

…”eligibility of workers to be determined by the House Democrats.”

House Democrats want a billion dollars for worker bonuses, and signaled they’d approve a billion for the Unemployment Insurance Fund — but Republicans say it’s only a third of what’s needed.
