The Republican members of the Minnesota senate convened a digital working group today. Lawmakers heard testimony from Mary Krinkie with the Minnesota Hospital Association. She says they are working first and foremost to keep workers safe by providing enough personal protective equipment.

“We know from California’s experience 200 nurses were kept out of the workforce for 2 weeks, 14 days time. We have to protect our healthcare workers or we’re going to lose this fight.”

Krinkie added they can also make sure they have access to enough staff by stripping away the barriers for bringing in extra licensed staff from other states. Lawmakers say they started the working group to facilitate conversation between lawmakers who are spread out around the state due to the current Stay at Home Order and to make those conversations available to the public. It is not expected any votes will come out of the working group.
