Minnesota’s strawberry season is off to a slow start due to cold temperatures earlier in the season, but farmers expect to see a turnaround very soon…

“From what we’ve been hearing from most of our growers, they’re looking to open within the next week to two weeks for strawberries, and then right after strawberries will come raspberries and blueberries.”

Danielle Daugaard with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) recommends checking with your local patch for information on availability before heading out to the farm. Or, for information on local berry picking options, you can visit the MDA’s Minnesota Grown Directory online.
