State officials say they’ve been notified that Moderna is behind on shipping COVID vaccine — possibly affecting how quickly the vaccination effort ramps up in Minnesota’s nursing homes.   Minnesota Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann:

“We expect that vaccination will be starting for our skilled nursing facilities next week.”

But Ehresmann says shipments of the Moderna vaccine will be delayed to three local public health agencies in Minnesota and one skilled nursing facility. Minnesota was in line for nearly 95 thousand doses in the first shipment. The state has already received Pfizer vaccine which is going to health care workers. Officials say Moderna will be sent to nursing homes because it’s much easier to ship and store.
