A 47-year-old Green Isle woman has been charged with child neglect after she was accused of locking her daughter in her bedroom. The child was seen by passers-by hanging out of an upstairs window, and one of them caught the little girl when she fell from it.

A Sibley County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to April Grams’ home and found that the bedroom door had a lock on the outside. Grams claimed that she locked the child in her room about two hours earlier and went to bed.

A trick-or-treat pumpkin with urine in it was found in the room, and the five-year-old told investigators she used it as a toilet when she is locked in the room.

The deputy made a call to social services, and was told the child could stay in the home as long as the lock was removed. Grams removed it and deputies left the home.
