State Representative Jeremy Munson of Lake Crystal says the COVID-19 data cannot justify any current restrictions that Governor Walz has put in place.

“We can’t cripple our economy forever,” said Munson. “When you look at the numbers for the latest surge, the numbers for Iowa, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, and Minnesota are very similar and we have very different restrictions in place.”

Munson says a state plan to handle a surge in COVID-19 patients in Minnesota has not been necessary

“The state put in place measures to greatly expand hospital capacity in the spring,” said Munson. “That plan has never been triggered in Minnesota because we haven’t hit a level that is has been necessary.”

Munson says he takes COVID-19 very seriously, but he’s allowed to do his job from home while many people don’t have the capability.
