In just over a month, Minnesotans will no longer be able to hold their cell-phone while driving.   The state’s hands-free bill goes into effect on August 1st. State Patrol Lt. Matt Langer says one way to comply with the new law is using your cell phone through the blue tooth technology in your car:

“If you have a phone or a car where that doesn’t work, another option includes using the phone on speaker mode. Other options include using a headphone. If you do that you can only have it in one ear not both — an auxiliary cable. On the hands-free-mn-dot-org website you’ll find resources including a list of options available to you.”

Starting next week the state Department of Public Safety will launch a statewide educational campaign on the new hands-free law.
