State health officials say the federal government will continue to monitor the safety of COVID vaccines after they’ve been distributed, even though they’ve undergone the same rigorous testing as other vaccines.   Kris Ehresmann with the Minnesota Department of Health says there’s now a reporting tool from C-D-C called “V-Safe” that people can download to their smartphones:

“It uses text messaging and web surveys to check in with people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine, and participants can report side effects and health impacts following vaccination — and it can serve to remind you when you need your second dose.”

Ehresmann says those now receiving their first dose of COVID vaccine should also get information about “V-Safe” at that time.
