On April 4, 2022 the Brown County Sheriff’s Office made a probable cause arrest of Eric Alan Gramentz without incident. Gramentz was housed in the Waseca County Jail during the initial investigation to avoid any potential conflict of interest in the investigation. On April 6, 2022 a criminal complaint was filed in district court with the following charges:
Count 1:
Criminal Sex Conduct – 1st Degree-Penetration or Contact Under 13-Vic U 16-Sig Rel Multiple Acts Over time
Count 2
Criminal Sex Conduct – 2nd Degree- Significant Relationship-Under16-Multiple Act
After the initial court appearance Eric Gramentz will be housed at the Brown County Jail.
This is an active and ongoing criminal investigation for the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The City of New Ulm Released this statement regarding the arrest:
City of New Ulm Investigator Eric Gramentz is currently on leave from employment with the city.
Gramentz has been employed by the city since February 27, 2005. Gramentz was responsible for investigating crimes, documenting the details of the investigation, and providing courtroom testimony.
The city is confident that its police department will continue to serve the community safely, effectively, and efficiently.
The city has no further comments about this matter due, primarily, to Minnesota’s government data privacy laws.
