A 31-year-old Fairfax man is accused of assaulting a child he was babysitting in December.

New Ulm Police say the nine-month-old had bruises on her face and ears after Jared Radermacher cared for the baby while her mom was running errands.

He claimed she tripped in her crib and hit her face, but a doctor at New Ulm Medical Center told investigators the injuries weren’t consistent with that story and her ear injuries were consistent with them being twisted.

A witness also told officers that Radermacher slapped the baby while she was in her crib.

Radermacher charged with two counts of assault.
