A 50-year-old man from New Ulm is facing drug-related charges after police say he was found passed out at a gas station pump in Mankato last week.

Police say Richard Premo had been parked at the Kwik Trip pump for more than a half-hour when they arrived and was sweating profusely and breathing rapidly.

The criminal complaint shows that he told police he didn’t have any medical conditions but Premo admitted that he, “Shoots up every once in a while.” He also admitted to having used meth the day before.

A smoking pipe, syringe, and other drug items were found in a search of his SUV, and investigators say he failed field sobriety tests. A blood sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

Preliminary charges include driving under the influence of drugs and several drug possession charges.
