Don’t let your guard down just yet; state officials say the seasonal flu continues to sicken hundreds.

Karen Martin with the Minnesota Department of Health said, “We are still in the thick of things here in Minnesota as far as influenza activity, things are still quite high and we’ve been at wide spread activity for several weeks now.”

Since the beginning of the flu season nearly 4,000 people have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

So is it to late to get a flu shot? Martin said, “You know it’s really not. We are at peak activity but we anticipate to see influenza for weeks if not months to come.”

Over the last reporting week, 306 people were hospitalized with the flu, there were 102 school outbreaks and 13 in the state’s nursing homes.

Flu activity remains widespread across Minnesota.
