The city of North Mankato has taken action to help out the city’s bars and restaurants hoping to open soon. North Mankato city manager John Harrenstein says the city adopted a resolution to transition portions of the businesses parking lots to outdoor seating areas. Harrenstein says the application process is designed to be easy.

“They need to submit an application to zoning administrator Mike Fischer,” said Harrenstien. “He will review their plans and make sure they’re in compliance. It’s designed to be very easy and very swift.”

Governor Walz says he hopes bars and restaurants can open June first, but said Monday it’s not a guarantee.
