The North Mankato Port Authority is in negotiation with Spinners Bar and Grill to sell the property at 315 Range Street for future expansion of the business.
Owner of Spinners Clay Oachs says they plan to spend between 20 to 25-thousand dollars to develop green space behind the current facility.
“Tearing up the old concrete slab, putting a new patio in. Pouring new concrete for the refuge to be able to move. Running new electric out to a stage, a band stage, then I’d actually like to put some shelter, some shade back there too.”
City Administrator John Harrenstein says the undeveloped property has been owned by the city since 2012.
“I think the Port Authority has a committed mission to assisting businesses grow and expand. Your strongest partners are those that are already in the community. In relation to the proposed use, we will be discussing with Spinners being sensitive to neighborhood concerns on sound, the hours of use and any lighting impact to the surrounding area.”
Harrenstein indicated that they plan to reach an agreement on the sale of property in the next two weeks.
