It was a busy 2017 for development in North Mankato as it added nearly 29-million dollars worth of property value.

The End-of-Year Planning and Zoning report shows that building permits totaled 1,168, up 64 from 2016. 

Industry and Commercial permits lead the way with 84 and single-family developments totaled 19. There were six new condos/townhomes permitted along with three new apartments or assisted living facilities. The number of new units added in 2017 was 86, a large increase from the 29 that were added in 2016.

Some of the additions in 2017 included the new 24-unit Birchwood Cottages, which will serve as senior memory care units and the new 60-thousand square foot Palmer Bus Service facility in the North Port Industrial Park.
