The City of North Mankato has taken action to help out bars and restaurants when they are allowed to re-open.

“We did adopt a resolution to allow that would allow restaurants to convert a portion of their parking lot to seating areas to accommodate the social distancing life that we will be living for a while,” said North Mankato city manager John Harrenstien. “The measure essential waves some of the business’ off-street parking requirements.”

Harrenstein says the city has received two applications from businesses asking for outside dining space. State officials are hoping to re-open bars and restaurants at limited capacities by June first.
