A 27-year-old North Mankato woman is accused of abusing her three young daughters, including hitting one child in the face with a belt, and one of the victims told investigators that she and her sisters were hit on a daily basis.

Police say Ebony Mason called her child’s school to say she would be out sick on the day the girl was struck in the face with the belt, but when the student returned the following say there was still a visible mark on her face. The child admitted that her mother had hit her, and told officials it wasn’t the first time Mason had struck her in the face with the object.

Mason told police that she had never hit any of her children, but while officers were at the home they say she was yelling and swearing at the children – ages three, six, and seven – and the complaint shows that she beat the girls on the arms and legs with the belt soon after officers left the house.

Mason is accused of three counts of malicious punishment of a child and three counts of domestic assault.
