A month past the deadline for agreement on COVID bonuses for front-line workers, Democrats blame Republicans for the holdup.   Saint Paul Senator Erin Murphy calls G-O-P lawmakers’ threats to oust Governor Tim Walz’s health commissioner “a ridiculous proposition”:

“If Jan Malcolm were removed from office, it would destabilize our effort on COVID.   And I’m sure she would be replaced with someone as credible, as competent, and as fierce in pursuit of protecting our health.  It’s a talking point, it’s a roadblock, and it should come off the table.”

Senate Republicans didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.  They warn Malcolm’s rollout of a new smartphone app (called Docket) for Minnesotans is a back-door attempt to implement “vaccine passports.”
