No one under 21 will be able to buy tobacco products in Minnesota under a law signed by Governor Walz Saturday. Laura Smith with Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation says it’s a good first step, but more must be done…

“We know that the youth tobacco rates have really skyrocketed thanks to ecigarettes and so we’re looking at how we can take a comprehensive approach to youth tobacco addiction and that includes looking at the price of tobacco products, prohibiting the sale of all products that are flavored.”

The new law puts Minnesota in line with the federal Tobacco 21 law.
