A snow emergency will go into effect at 8:00 p.m. in Mankato.
Department of Public Safety Commander Dan Schisel said drivers downtown need to be prepared. He explained, “There is no parking on any of the, unless there’s…there’s certain streets that have some seasonal parking on them so you can park on one side of the street until the other side is cleared. But basically there is no parking on city streets until the snow emergency is declared over.”
Schisel said parking is available elsewhere in the city and, “If they don’t have an off-street parking there are city ramps that they can go into and park until the snow emergency is over.”
He added that there are some street closures as well. “They have shut the hills down already in the city of Mankato; there are three or four hills that we have gates or arms on and we closed those.” Parkway, Monks and Stadium hills have been closed, and are expected to reopen after the snowstorm.
The snow emergency will be in effect until 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
