PETA is planning to erect a billboard to bring attention to the pigs who died when the truck carrying them to slaughter overturned on July 18.

Officials say the sign will go up near the ramp from westbound Highway 14 onto southbound Highway 169 in Mankato.

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman says the billboard will urge drivers to remember the pigs, “Who only briefly enjoyed the sun and the mud on the roadside before they were hauled off to slaughter—and go vegan.”
