A police chase through southern Minnesota, including along Highway 14 in Mankato, was apparently prompted by the theft of keys to 300 new cars at a Shakopee dealership Saturday night.

The owner of Apple Autos says surveillance video shows the thief breaking into a garage door, crawling through a window, and taking off with a box where one set of keys to each new car was stored.

The next morning, owner Chris Gulbrandson says someone walked onto the lot while employees were present and drove off in a high-ticket SUV.

KSMP-TV is reporting that one person is in custody following the chase, which ended in Winona, but police are not sure if the suspect driving the stolen vehicle is the same one that took the keys.
