Poultry experts are warning about dangerous bird flu outbreaks. The highly contagious avian influenza has reached 30 states and has required the euthanizing of roughly 13 million birds, including 85-thousand in South Dakota recently. University of Minnesota Extension Educator Abby Schuft says euthanasia only happens in places with infected birds. Owners are reimbursed by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. Experts worry widespread outbreaks could lead to higher food prices.
