Cree from north Minneapolis says protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death are meant to prove a point to the government and anyone else who hasn’t been listening…

“We don’t have a voice and this is our way of showing it, we’re out here cleaning up as well as destroying, but I mean that’s how it goes, we have to do something for something to happen.”

Thousands of students and others held a sit-in at the State Capitol Tuesday to show support and call for justice in Floyd’s death.

He says the battle has been ongoing for 400 years…

“As a black people and brown people have been treated in a way that other people can’t understand and explain so we just want people to know our pain, we’ve had this pain bottled up in us for hundreds and hundreds of years. us youth and everyone out here has the courage now to show what we’re worth.”
