(St. Paul, MN) — One Ramsey County deputy is recovering after his squad car was struck and burst into flames overnight Thursday. Police say the deputy was responding to a chase that started after a suspect allegedly stole a vehicle. The deputy was heading westbound near the intersection of County Road 96 and Highway 10 when the suspect slammed into the Ford Explorer squad vehicle. It burst into flames, and the deputy suffered a broken kneecap, fractured ribs, a bruised lung and possible head injury. The suspect was not injured in the crash.
