Registration is now open for the 2018 Minnesota Senior Games, which take place in Mankato in mid-August, and Mankato Sports Commission Special Events Manager Joelle Baumann said, “There are more than 20 events that participants can take part in – from archery to badminton, track, swimming, bowling….”

Participants that perform well at the August event in Mankato will have a chance to compete at the national level. Nationals take place in June 2019. “This year is a national qualifying year for the senior games. Nationals will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico,” Baumann said.

“Mankato is expecting to see an influx of athletes this year because it’s a national qualifier for the 2019 National Senior Games,” said Joy Leafblad, Mankato Sports Commission director. “Participants can look forward to competing in the community’s outstanding recreational facilities and have a wonderful time outside of competition, enjoying the endless dining options, a variety of shopping experiences, and many more of Mankato’s unique amenities.”

Mailed forms must be postmarked by July 30, and Baumann said online registration closes August 3rd.
